The Reverse Bucket List

So I got to thinking about New Year's Resolutions the other day.  And while I thought of a few that I will probably be able keep, it was much easier and more enjoyable to think off all the things I DO NOT want to this year, or ever.  Nobody likes feeling like a failure when their resolutions fall through, so here is my list of things to avoid in 2012 and onward.

1. Plummet at an inhuman speed towards the planet Earth.  This includes skydiving, bungee jumping, cliff diving, or even jumping off the high rise diving board.  I hate heights, have an extreme fear of falling to my death, and just don't understand why you would jump out of a perfectly good plane.

2. Get chased by a chainsaw again.  Granted, this was at a haunted house so I knew I wasn't in any real danger, but you try telling that to the limbic system of a girl who cried when she saw the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

3. Live in a huge, beautiful house... all alone.  The most important thing is to be surrounded by the people you love.  When it comes down to it, that's the most valuable thing in life and should always be a top priority.

4. Yardwork.  Enough said.  I hate that shit.

5. Have any type of medical emergency.  Have y'all ever tried to get insurance when your medical history is messier than the snot covered face of a toddler with a cold??  It's pretty damn near impossible.

6. Climb Mt. Everest.  Or any other big mountain. for that matter.  I know some people love this stuff, but I would cry at the cold and hunger and every other hardship.  Plus, did you know that on the way up, certain bodies that have been there for years are used as markers to gauge exactly where you are? Cah-reepy.

7. Run with the bulls.  Once again, enough said.  I have no intention of getting impaled by a big angry mammal.

8. Run the New York City Marathon.  If you have the dedication to run any marathon, I applaud you.  It's just totally not for me, seeing as how I HATE running.  And I heard that you have to stand in line for so long waiting for it to start after registering that people forgo the long porta-potty lines in favor of pissing and shitting in the street.  As if the streets of NYC weren't dirty enough already.

9. Sit in the back of a squad car.  By all means I probably should have already done this, but seeing as how I have made it 25 years without being en route with the law, I'd like to keep it this way.

10. Have a nudie photo scandal.  Now, this one I am not worried about since I am not a promiscuous teen with the great idea to send her boyfriend photos, but I needed a number 10 because 9 was a weird number to end on.  Plus I see it on the tabloid covers all the time.

What are some things y'all want to avoid in your lifetime?  Make your own list- it was fun!  And may all of you have a safe and fashionable New Year's Eve- can't wait to see all the outfit posts afterwards!

Sneak Peek: Toms Spring 2012

Ballet flats!  I just love love love the lookbook for the new Toms coming out this spring.  If you love your Toms as much as I love mine, I knew you're just dying to get your hands on pair.  With a more fashionable shape, and fantastic prints, fabrics and textures, what's not to love? And as always, a pair goes to someone in need with every purchase!  Total guilt-free shopping.

I've got my eye on the black burlap pair and the blue suede pair... what are your favorites?

Holiday Wish List

What's on your list this year??

Friday Confessions

Is it already Friday? Time for the Friday Confessional! Here we go-

1. I couldn't be happier that Pop-Up Video is back on.  I will watch the entire video for a song, even if I hate it, to read all those little bubbles of information.

2. This morning I woke up feeling even worse.  My cough sounds like a lion that has just been shot in the face. I'm dreading work tonight, but I've already had to take two sick days and with Christmas around the corner, I can't afford to stay home!

3.  I haven't started my holiday shopping.  At all.  Not one bit.

4. I keep getting cute outfits together so I can take pictures for the blog.. but the sun goes down so early that it's always dark by the time I get ready.

5. My cat loves to help me blog. Right now she is laying on a pillow next to me with her paws on my chest, purring.  She has got to be the strangest animal I've ever meet.

6. I can't stand cold weather unless it is snowing.  If mother nature wants me to suffer through the cold without even making it pretty then frankly, she can suck a dick.

7. I think my last blog post was effective, because when I woke up this morning my boyfriend got me water, medicine, and a bagel.  Then he used the space heater to heat up my blanket. :)

8. I'm addicted to crime shows.  My favorite is Criminal Minds.  And there is a channel called Investigation Discovery that is 24 hours a day of reality crime television.  It. Is. Awesome.

9. Next week I'm getting this thing back on track with some great outfit posts, so stay tuned!

Want Some Jingle?

Jingle is what my friend Rachel (I'm pretty sure she's mentioned in about every other post now) calls change.  Little bloggy here just had some changes.  I changed the name because I really wasn't a fan of the old one... and it was super easy to do so I figured it was better to do it sooner than later.

You guys, I am sick.  Awfully, whiney, lay around on the couch moaning all day type of sick.  I haven't been able to blog because I ache all the way down to my fingertips.  Anyone else feeling this awful is welcome to come join me and Asa in our misery... between my constant pouting and him thinking it's funny to poke me with his cane, there is a lot of "STOOOOPPPP IT" coming out of my mouth.  Then trying to put on a sweet smile and ask for ice cream.

So he got sick of my whining and I told him I was going to go blog about how he is THE WORST AT TAKING CARE OF ME EVER AND I AM GOING TO TELL THE WHOLE WORLD.  ALL FIVE OR SO PEOPLE WHO FOLLOW MY BLOG WILL KNOW HOW MEAN YOU ARE TO ME SO THERE!

Actually, he's not that bad and is doing far better than I would be doing.  I can be very dramatic and needy when I'm sick and all I want is to be babied until I feel better.  The thing is though, it's not COMPLETELY my fault.  I had some pretty serious surgeries as a child, and my family have superpowers when it comes to making me feel better.  My dad always made sure I got enough to eat (even when my jaw was wired shut and I couldn't chew) and my mom drove me to every doctor I needed to see, and my sisters would entertain me.  Allison was 8 when I had my first surgery, and my older sister Kendle was 6 when I was born and had procedure done shortly after that.  They have lots of experience in the "Caitlin is sick" area.

Allison and I live nearby now, while the rest of the family is in Texas.  So basically my whole life any time I got sick she would take care of me. And she is sooo good at it.  She brings you blankets and water and medicine and hands you the remote and everything.  She set a very high standard for Asa.  He won't even make me a hot toddy.  Do you think I CARE we don't have lemon or honey? No! I'm sick!

On the bright side, Asa said I look happier now.  I told him it's because talking shit about his nursing skills make me happy.

Now I'm off to go drink the water he was so kind to bring me, and blow my nose in the tissues he limped off to get me.

I'll be back to the blog world soon!

My New Love

You guys I have CONVERTED! But more on that in a bit...

It is so cold here today that I had to wrap myself up in a fleece blanket every time I wanted to drive my car!  I had a long list of things to accomplish today, but after my toes got too frosty I decided to call it a day and play around in the blog world for a little bit.  Ok, more like a few hours.  I just get so caught up in browsing around all the blogs out there! And I made this pretty little thing I found on Pintrest.  Mine looks a bit different because I started with a square shaped vase and filled it with red and green peanut M&Ms, but it is just as cute and so easy to do.  I bought 4 packs of candy canes at 99 cents each, grabbed some ribbon and my glue gun, and had MORE holiday decor in less than 20 minutes.

I went Ulta yesterday in need of bronzer and mascara.  I love love love Ulta, and around this time of year they have so many specials and deals that it is hard not to go way over budget.  I nearly broke my wallet in half getting just two items, but since I'm an Ulta Club Member I got three free make-up brushes :)  Anyone who has an Ulta near, I would so encourage you to sign up.  It's free and they are always giving you little treats! I swear I get something almost every time.

I ended up getting Lash Injection Mascara by Too Faced.  I had just run out of the They're Real Mascara by BeneFit, and it was good but I guess not great considering I didn't feel like I had to get it again.  I choose this one in a hurry, I'm always a sucker for pretty packaging and I use Too-Faced eyeshadow everyday.   Plus it's that tubey type mascara, that's supposed to come off in tubes with just water so I was excited to try that out.
It did break apart and come off pretty easily, but not what I expected.  You will definitely need some soap just because when it does come off your lashes some of it gets rubbed into the skin around your eyes.  Overall though, much easier and faster to get off than any mascara I've ever worn.
And I don't know if it's supposed to, but it absolutely has a fruity scent to it.. it was hard to miss when the GIGANTIC wand came towards my eye.  So big, actually, that I had a hard time getting to the smaller lashes on the inside of my eyes.
End result is super full lashes, but didn't lengthen them like I'd like.  I like it a lot, but I think I'm still on my journey  to find my perfect mascara.  Y'all have any suggestions?

Ladies, this bronzer IS THE SHIT!  A former Bare Minerals addict for years, I have converted and it feels sooo good.  I recently switched powder to PUR because Bare Minerals just wasn't cutting it for me anymore.  I needed more coverage and something longer lasting.  PUR is better, but after picking up this Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Bronzer I will absolutely be getting some powder too.  It's a little more pricey at $39, but the color looks so pretty and natural on me.  A natural ginger (although as I get older, it gets blonder), finding any face make-up that goes with my coloring is a hard thing to do.  This stuff goes on smooth, blends super easy, and looks natural.  Major thanks to my best gal Rachel, who recommended Smashbox products to me!  She first introduced me to what I like to call "big girl makeup" when we were roommates together in our sorority, and has been inspiring all my beauty buys ever since. I'll definitely be following her footsteps on this one.

That's all for now y'all!  Talk to ya later!

Love, Caitlin

Confessional...

Linking up to my one of my favorite blogs, Blonde Ambition, whose author also live in the fabulous NWA!

1. I'm becoming steadily addicted to blogging, but am nervous to share it with people I know because I'm afraid they will think my site is lame, or I'm vain or blah blah blah...
2. I wish I could decorate my house within an inch of its life for Christmas.  My hot glue gun may become permanently attached to me because I think all those super cute crafty things I see on Pintrest that look so simple to do... are actually simple.  They aren't.
3. My boyfriend was recently in a motorcycle accident and broke his hip, so he can't walk around or do much of anything which really sucks... but sometimes it's okay because I can hang out with him whenever I want.  Plus it was super fun to give him shots, it made me feel like a smarty pants doctor.
4. I can sleep like it is a freaking Olympic Sport and I am the CHAMPION.  Napping can seriously interfere with me getting ANYTHING done.
5. One of my favorite things to do when I'm killing time is to go to all my favorite online shops and get a huge shopping cart together of everything I want... that I can never afford to buy.  It's window shopping for the new generation.
